Homemade RepRap display with SD card

Hello!
I`m quite new to 3d printing and will only build my first printer in a few months.
I`m trying to save money on all components, so try to find out what can I do myself.

One of these ideas is Display controller. When printer will be up and running, it is possible to make a pcb with it.
Or maybe I`ll try without pcb.

So, that`s what I found online:

[reprap.org]
[TB_GLCD_shield.pdf" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">reprap.org]
[flashgamer.com]
[reprap.org]

RepRap project is opensource, so there should be some schemes on display.
Any suggestions? Is this schematics enough to make a display controller?

To find out what types of display configuration are supported check the configuration tool or file for your particular firmware. There will be pointers to some display types.

As for making pcbs on a 3D printer it is definitely possible. I believe this is the sanest, most reliable process:

- completely cover the pcb in permanent marker ink
- strap a very sharp nail/needle to the print head
- use the printer to scratch away the ink where you want the copper to be removed
- etch away using your acid of choice (usually ferric chloride)
