Reuleaux Collection of Kinematic Mechanisms
November 23, 2012 10:43AM

Hi all,
I'm new to the forum and to the 3D printing world, but would like to share an idea.
The Reuleaux Collection of Kinematic Mechanisms was developed in the XIX century by Franz Reuleaux as a didactic tool for teaching mechanics to what were essentially aristocratic students with no knowledge or contact with machines. At its height, it was composed of something like 800 mechanisms, and copies were sold as a complement to Reuleaux's book, Der Constructor.
The original mechanisms were lost during WWII, and today only a few collections survive of "license-built" mechanisms by one of his disciples, Gustav Voigt.
The main internet repository for the collection is [kmoddl.library.cornell.edu]
You may browse the collection and download CAD models of many models. You may also contribute to the project
Wouldn't it be great to recreate this amazing collection in real 3D?
