I downloaded their demo offer and tried it out for half an hour.
The 3D modeler part of Alibre was decent. Intuitive and fast.
The 2D drafting part was less cooperative and the whole application hung after a few minutes.
So as long as you want to use it for making models, I suppose $99 is good value. If you intend to produce paper drawings though, I'm less convinced.
