I know that there is currently a search for a water soluble filler material. Has anyone considered Selective Hot Air Sintering And Melting (SHASAM)?
Sugar works.

It's not very high resolution, but I suspect that we could improve it by mixing sugar into a very small quantity of water to make it more viscous, much like a very thick syrup.
Sugar's available everywhere, so if we could make a system that printed syrup and fused it with a hot air probe, it should be universally accessible.
Just an off-the-cuff idea. Let me know if this has already been done.
