Granulating filament?

Granulating filament?

So I have got a big cardboard box of 3mm ABS filament (same stuff I am selling in my signature).

Would a blender work for turning it into pellets to put through an extruder?

Reason I ask is it would be nice to have it in 1.75mm size so I can actually use it in my hotend.

Here's a few attempts at doing what you're talking about:

Sticking them into a blender probably won't work, at least not directly. However, if you have access to dry ice or liquid nitrogen, it might work fine: [ubc-rapid.com]

Maybe you should build a extruder/ hotend with 1.75mm nozzle
(or what size is necessary to get 1.75mm filament)

Feed in 3mm filament out squirts 1.75mm filament?

Eh, I'd rather have it in pellets so it takes up less space. I'm not able to print ABS right now, but I should be able to soon enough. Plus it will bush me to make s filament extruder like I have been wanting to for a while.

It looks like someone else had the same idea. This was just posted today.

Cool tool thumbs up
One suggestion, it looks like the filament axis is on the same plane as the cutter axis? The filament cutter might perform better if the filament was located about half of the diameter below the axis of the cutter axis.
