I have some resin from solerez in USA.It is thick at room temp, but I need to make semi-solid.

Like Chapstick, or Vaseline.

We just tried to add some paraffin wax to it and fail.

They are not mixing! Like Oil and Water it seems?

What can I add to the resin??

Natural wax? Bees Wax? Not Petroleum based wax? Carnauba wax?

Help please....

Hello Every body.
I am new to this forum and interested in UV-curable Resins.
I wanted to buy these materials mentioned in this formula, but in my country may some of them have another expressions and names. would somebody help me to start. I specially confusing with this:

Benzoilisobutylether (BIsoBE) ????
Is there something instead of that?

ALSO could anybody tell me the "art number" for that formulas?

* Best results yet! Excellent curing speed, great hardness and toughness:
For 100g of final resin mix (RM)
3g of Benzil
1g of Benzoilisobutylether (BIsoBE)
1g of MDEA
0.5g of EDTA or 0.1g of Hydrochinone
complete to 100g with Polyester resin.
Cost of chemicals: 0.74

Hello SPOTA!

You mentioned in one of the posts that could make an acrylic resin for UV curing using the same ingredients you listed to make the resin UV curing polyester base. I need this acrylic resin had between 800 and 1500cps for doming stickers. If I buy an acrylic varnish in a store and need to leave him less viscous, which thickener I need to use?

Thanks in advance!

4) Recipes

Here I will list a number of possible recipes for UV-curable resins.
The list below is just a start and I'm sure a wild variety of different ones will emerge and evolve in time. I have created a small spreadsheet to calculate the prices of these mixes. I will show the price as well. Pot-life of all these resins can greatly be improved if they are kept away in dark places and in opaque containers.

Hi, where do you get the materials from?
Re: What do you need to make UV-curing resins?

Old form, but still would like to weigh in...
[www.tcichemicals.com] has the Benzil, Benzoin Isobutyl Eher, and EDTA
[www.alfa.com] has the MDEA that i found.

I have not tried to make the composition, but did a price for materials, and what i have come up with is your price would be 40$ for 1kg of Resin made. This is way cheaper than some of the other resins out there.

To get the pigments, just order from ebay, there are a lot of vendors.

I have also found state side a place BuckTownPolymers in Chicago that sells a 4kg pale for 100$ (including shipping) and they will provide pigments in this. (i have not confirmed but after emailing them, this is what they told me) This is the cheapest option i have found thus far...

Hope this helps!! and be safe mixing if you do this route, some ingredients have ammonia in them, so using a fume hood to mix is the safest route...

... you can print "negative", mould wax "positives" and use them for lost cast moulding the metal parts ...
