Azteeg X5 GT - digital current control not working with SD6128 drivers

Hi everybody,

Received my new Azteeg X5 GT. I realize just now that the community and help for this board is nearly non-existent!

Here is my problem: I installed my board (replacing my MKS SBASE 1.3). I modified the config file as per my setup and everything is working as it should except the motors...

I can hear a faint humming noise when I command the motors to move but looks like the voltage to the motors is too low. I was able to make the bed move down a little because gravity assists it.

I believe my config file is ok
the jumpers are set for 1/32 microsteps (m1 on m2 off m3 on)

I measured the vref pin with a voltmeter but it reads zero.

I tried with the last two smoothie firmwares. Same issue.

Any idea?

part of my config file:

# Azteeg specific settings do not change
currentcontrol_module_enable true #
digipot_max_current 3.0 # max current
digipot_factor 51.0 # factor for converting current to digipot value
#51.0 for SD8825, SD6128, SD5984, BSD109A

Its all on the sellers site....

have you seen support-files and x5-gt-install-guide ?

in particular the following

Quote
the manual
Setting Current limit for stepper driver using smoothieware's config file.

Each driver current limit can be set using the line below. Locate each line on the config file and set individually. Setting is in Amperes, 1.0 Amp. Reboot board to apply settings. These will work for Panucatt Drivers with digipot control, SD6128, SD5984, SD8825, BSD109A and BSD2100

alpha_current 1.0 # X stepper current
beta_current 1.0 # Y stepper current
gamma_current 1.0 # Z stepper current
delta_current 1.0 # Extruder 1 stepper current
epsilon_current 1.0 # Extruder 2 stepper current

I suspect you need more current.... say 1.75

I took all my information on the sellers site.

I even used their config file to begin and yes my stepper current is set like you mention in the config file

My printer was already running smoothieware with the steppers current at 1.2A with another board...I don't understand why I would need to go to 1.75 ?

And even then I should at least measure something else than zero at the vref pin

I was just guessing your stepper are 1.75amp, most are around there....
