Duet problems...

I've got a pair of Duet 0.8.5 boards I'm having problems with.

Board #1 has the 1.09b firmware (as I received it) and it won't come up on the network - the only change I've made to config.g is setting the ip address, gateway & netmask for my internal network. The board doesn't respond to pings nor does it's MAC address appear in my router. Webserver doesn't respond on the address I specified (10.1.10.6 for the host 10.1.10.1 for the gateway and 255.255.255.0 for the netmask)

Board #2 has been upgraded to 1.09r but cannot read the configuration file for whatever reason - the file IS present in the sys directory.
Here's the output on boot:
-----
RepRapFirmware Version 1.09r-dc42 dated 2016-01-16

Executing default.g (no configuration file found)... Error, not found
RepRapFirmware is up and running.
Starting network...
Network up, IP=192.168.1.10
-----

This board doesn't appear on my network either. (no MAC address showing in the router, no ping response, no browser response.)

I do not have a PanelDue installed and have no plans to install one.

Suggestions?

tnx.

Sorry for the noise - a new SD card and the board was happy. I'll try re-formatting the old one to see if it works.
