Printer will not heat beyond 260C

Hey guys,

I recently upgraded to an e3d v6 and bumped up the temperature limit to 295C. Whenever I try to heat beyond 260C it shows printer halted, heating failed. Even though I managed to PID autotune at 285 before. The heater which throws the error is my extruder(not my heated bed) and despite changing the wiring to a coarse 12guage wire it still throws the same error. Is there some setting im not aware of ?

your thirmister may be topping out and not changing, the firmware sees this as an issue (which it is)

most are around the -50~300c range

For higher temps you need a pt100 or a thermocouple...

It may have even been damaged by going to 295... so it now just stops reading at 260..

Huh, It says here under PID tuning to not go beyond 295. I tried connecting it to a multimeter and noticed a small resistance change too. How do I check if its broken for sure ?

I managed to somewhat fix it by extending the thermal protection period by +10s for both the bed and the hotend. I still get errors occasionally but much less. You can find this setting in the configuration_adv.h file under thermal settings.
