Filament melting before getting to extruder

Hello All,

I am getting an issue where about an hour into a build my filament gets bound up before it hit the nozzle throat. I am using PLA 1.75mm filament. I keep the fan on high but it must be getting to hot above the nozzle and making the filament soft. Has any one had issues like this before? And what did you do to resolve it?

You need to screw the throat tube further into the extruder body so that the top of the tube is just clear of the toothed drive wheel.
You could allso fit some insulation around the heaer block to help keep the heat in.
