Anet A8 Will not print
July 15, 2017 02:12PM
Just completed the assembly and alignments of my new Anet A8, but unable to print.

Voltage to the control board is exactly 12V
When using "Home All" function all motors are working properly
Display indicates that excruder reached the correct temperature (190 degrees)
I am able to select the file to print from the SD card
PLA melts properly at the Excruder
Bed is hot
Extension of file I am trying to print is .stl
When selecting print I observe some activity on the control board of the red LEDs but printing never start, and after sometimes the display states that Steppers are disabled.

Resistance between the two leads of the hot bed is 1.2 ohms

Any advice?

you cannot print from a stl file, you have to use a slicer to convert the stl into g-code that the printer understands.

typical free slicers are
slic3r
Cura

or use a host printing program like
repetier host
mattercontrol

these have integral slicers built in

Finally success I can print but the resolution is extremely poor..... so poor that I can see the spaces between the layers. Is there a control to make the product look like a dense solid? I used PLA only so far.

There are thousands of combinations of configurations, show us an image of Slicer settings.

From there we will be more suited to help.

I used a .stl file that I converted to Gcode using Cura.. Please see attachment.

Your configuration setting all appear good for Printing ABS.
Though you said you were printing with PLA.

I would Start with A nozzle temp of 196C.
And a bed temp or 40C.
Print speed no higher the 40% for your first print.

Fill Density sets your infill for a good model 50-70% for a solid object 100%.
Your infill was set at 20%

Do a simple test print. Your Print should look better.

I did not know that there is a speed setting, I am a beginner who just finished building the machine (Anet A8). Are you referring to Feed Rate? If so it is set now to Y=400, X=400, Z=8

Under Speed and Temperature
Set Print Speed (mm/s)

You should Also Print with Supports on this Filament Guide or better yet Rotate it so that the Large opening is on the Build Plate.

What version Cura are you using

Change layer height to 0.2 set nozzle temp to 200C

Print something small, post picture of printed model.
Explain everything or post video on you-tube supply link to video.
