I'll have a look at the gap between the hotend and buildplate. what should it be.
Thank you Adrian.

First just set it waaayy too high, make sure stuff starts coming out (may take a minute or two). Then adjust downwards till you get a good first layer. [www.simplify3d.com] If you haven't printed an adjustable Z endstop, that is top of the list. Royal PITA to get it close without one.

I have 2 of these CTC I3 printers. They wouldn't feed extruder clunked etc.

I wound the pot on the extruder stepper driver (Next to the vacant slot), clockwise 10-15 degrees, and all is well.
Stepper wasn't being driven hard enough.

The IC is only luke-warm during a big print.

If you burn your finger, then the current is too high. you wont damage the driver board as it has over temp shutdown.

I use PLA at 210 deg, and print rate 35mm/sec.

Thanks for the info.
I have turned the pot up and with a bit of trial and error It extrudes like a good one.
I have noticed on ptinting the stepper gets hot so I put a fan on to cool it.
The driver is cooled by the fan I installed on the box I made for the 2560 board.
The only problem Ive got now is the wobble in the Z-axis threaded rods. New lead screws are on the way.
Thanks
Adrian
