Wanhao I3 sudden freeze/reset during Print
December 29, 2016 01:44PM
Hi Guys,

I am very new to 3D Printing. I have the Wanhao I3V2.1 for a couple of weeks now. and I started to print mods when the printer started to stop mid print on different occasions (mostly early in the print).
So the printer will go and reset. The extruder will stay at the last coordinate. Everything will cool done and stay like that. I am ususally printing PLA with 200C and 60-70C on the heated bed.

So far I've tried to print with different things and settings.
I ditched the SD Card.
I setup a raspberry pi3 with Octopi (first with 0.127 and later 0.130).
I tried to remove the reset jumper, but was a bad idea. When the next freeze happened, everything stayed hot.
I have checked the power connectors. They were a little fried so I change the Power and the heated bed connectors to xt60 as suggested by many.
Yesterday 1 print ran through smooth but today it stopped again after only a few minutes.

If you know anything that can help or need additional info just reply or pm!
Thanks in advance

Do you cool the electronics? It sounds like the onboard voltage regulator goes into overtemp protection.

Actually I don't.
The printer is in my basement. There are constantly around 25C degrees roomtemperature. After the XT60 mod the controlbox is left open,
Maybe I give it a try and add a bigger fan.
Where exactly is the voltage regulator?
