1/10 Chance a print will actually start
December 22, 2016 04:12PM
Hello, for some time now I've had an issue where as the printer homes everything and prepares for the print, most of the time one of the homes fails. More often then not it is the x-axis. When I have all heaters off everything homes fine usually. As I start a print and it homes to the x-axis it will simply just freeze in the position and stop. My s3d communication log then just spams the lines below. Other times it will be the y-axis that fails and occasionally the Z. I tried a different power supply thinking it wasn't getting enough amps, no dice. Also Tried switching to a faster USB Port. The fourth scenario of me starting a print is that my thermistor will read 500 and my printer will run to dry mode. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know about the coms issues, but I suspect there may be some. If your extruder reads 500 then you definitely have either an extruder thermistor problem or a bad connection somewhere in the the connection to it.

Bad connection or insufficient 5V supply from the arduino board sounds likely.

Where do you think the bad connection would be? It's confusing because the error that occurs is consistent, but not entirely consistent every single time so I cannot pinpoint it. The x-axis seems to do it the most, however that is the first axis I home so that may explain it.
