First print !!!
September 14, 2015 07:10PM
Hi All,

Finally got my Prusa i3 built and obviously have a few issues with calibration..

Using RAMPS 1.4

Printed a cube, and from what I can see I can only think my Y axis is not perpedicular to the X, thats the only reason I can think of my the cube I printed it leaning like it is..

Also not sure about the layers, I have a Mk8 extruder / hotend, with a .3 nozel and 1.75mm abs.. ( One of these )

Head temp 220, bed 110..

the rest was pure guess work and am hoping one of you guru's can point and tell me why it looks so crap..

Thanks smiling smiley

Hi,

Verify your printer elements are squared from eachother.
Verify your belts tension and pulley fixtures.
Then, on word : calibration !
Troubleshooting guide
Extruder calibration

Looks like over-extrusion.

Thanks guys, will have a try tonight and see what happens...

Also, the hotbed !! well, I contacted Sintron and had a moan about the bed and they told me to ignore the printed wiring info on the bed and use pads, 2, 3, so I did that, yep doesn't draw as much power, but struggles to get over 95deg C !!

So am using 15Amp wire to 1 and 23 connected together, via a relay (with diode) from an ATX power supply, the bed gets to 110deg in about 5 mins, and the relay clicks in and out without any issues..

They say it's a Mk3 bed... no idea what that is...

Hi,

110°C within 5mn is pretty good for a 12v bed.
More information about heatbeads (incl. MK3)

Cool !!!

So mine isn't a Mk3, it's a Mk2b Dual Power smiling smiley

and they told me to wire it in the 24v settings with 12v power.. thats why it's struggling to get hot..

However, on 12v it's around .8ohm, instead of 1.2 ish..
