Problems getting my Prusa i3 to do anything (motors not moving etc)
January 09, 2016 03:20AM
Hello all,

I'm completely new to all of this and decided I wanted a project to work on and bought a i3 rework kit (electron 3d).

I've built it all and wired all the proper connections, but I am unable to move any of the stepper motors using both the LCD screen and controls and Pronterface, the fans are not spinning and heatbed + nozzle are not heating up. The auto level sensor and SD card reader are working however, which confuses me as to what my problem is. I've been searching around for any answers to this but I can't seem to find any and don't really have any idea what I'm doing.

Any suggestions and help is greatly appreciated, I'm keen to get this thing up and running properly.smiling smiley

Edit: My motherboard is an MKS Base V1.2

Sounds to me like you don't have 12V power to the board.

I've hooked up the power supply to the board but have no idea how to test if it's working or not. All the cables are in the right spots (i think :p)

Use a multimeter to measure the voltage on the power input terminals of the board. If you don't have a multimeter, get one.

I'll get back to you once I have one and have tested it. Thanks for your help.

The power from the usb will get the board working but without the bigger supply the motors wont turn.
