Printing with Scotch 3M blue tape
December 26, 2015 01:34AM
Guys,

I tried printing with Scotch 3M blue tape and PLA filament,
but by the time it's finished, I can not release the tapi from printed object,
I need to scrap it with sand paper...

Any ideas ?

Thanks

With blue masking tape, I reduced bed temp to 40-45°C ( was 70°C )
Now the part falls off, after cooling down by 20°.

I also found that Scotch blue tape stuck too well.

I just use ordinary white tape now. Wipe with alcohol before printing if it's not adhesive enough.

Blue tape wiped with IPA (isopropyl alchohol, not India Pale Ale) and printing on unheated bed works for me. I have found that if you heat up the blue tape its adhesive bakes onto the surface under it and it's hard to clean off. At room temp the adhesive comes off cleanly with the tape.

I have wipe it with alcohol before printing and using 30 degree heat on the bed but it's still sticking very well...
Please have a look:

Now I need to scrap it with sand paper to clean it.....

Any ideas to make it better.....? may be more alcohol ?

Thanks

Try bare glass with hairspray -> gluestick -> kapton, in that order.

If you do use blue tape make sure it isn't the dark blue. Sticks way to hard. I use glass and Elmers Purple Glue stick at 70c. Once cooled it pops right off.

I'm using Scotch 3M 2093.....I can't find 2090 here.....
It's sticking like above example.....

I reduce it by putting cooking oil on it...

+1 for Elmers purple. Seems to work great for pla, abs, petg and nylon. Tried the blue tape and got frustrated - the margin between not sticking at all and sticking like crazy seemed very narrow.
