fan shroud not blowing

Hi all,

I printed a fan shroud because I found the PLA was not cooling fast enough, maybe making a fan shroud and adding a fan could help.

I have the fan blowing. I tested the fan to blow in the right direction. I attach it to the shroud and have it blow.

I noticed that barely any air is actually coming out of the shroud, but mostly out of the fan, like it is blowing in the shroud but reflecting out of the fan harder than it is going through the hole of the shroud.

Has anyone had this kind of experience?

Yes... the often-used axial fans aren't good for this application. A radial fan is much better at blowing.

I see fancy nozzle designs all the time and wonder if any air is actually moving through them. I don't think people bother testing them. I wonder how many printers have print cooling fans that don't actually move any air.
