/language.h:79:4: error: #error CUSTOM_MENDEL_NAME deprecated - use CUSTOM_MACHINE_NAME

Have no clue on what this means, can someone offer assistance?

It means your using an release branch configuration.h on a developers branch version of marlin

in particular your configuration.h has a line mentioning "CUSTOM_MENDEL_NAME"
where are the development branch version needs "CUSTOM_MACHINE_NAME"

Thanks for that I must have different versions of marlin as I got them from different sources.
