With suggestions that my missed steps were motor voltage problems I read the how to (adjust voltages) and it was very easy. This is for the Melzi Board. Unplug power and USB, Switch jumper to USB, led comes on then off then on again and stays on, attach volt meter black lead to board 12 volt ground input. The meter red lead is supposed to touch the single pad on the stepper motor pot adjuster but it is so small that it's almost impossible to see much less touch. As it turns out if you touch the pot adjuster screw you get the same reading as the solder pad. Mine showed 5.0 volts on all four steppers. I adjusted them to 7.0 volts as per the instructions. Disconnect USB cable, switch the jumper back and done. After this I adjusted my power supply voltage from 12.25v to 13.25v to help with heatbed heating times and it didn't change the new stepper voltages. Takes about 10 minutes and I think it solved my missed steps problem.
