retraction doesnt push back

Hi,

Im having a super weird issue all of a sudden both in Slicer 1.1.7 and 1.2.8. Im retracting 3mm at 40mm/s on a bowden extruder but the push back move isn't executed correctly. The filament is pulled out of the heat break of 3-5 retractions and continues to wander upwards. I disassembled the extruder and didn't find a mechanical fault. Anyone ever saw something similar?

What does the "direction" pin of the stepper driver do, while you try to feed the filament back into the hotend? Maybe there is a faulty Connection?

Bullseye! one of the pins on the extruder stepper had come loose a bit. very interesting that this can happen I had always assumed that if one pin gets loose the motor cant function. Thanks a lot!
