Will reducing microsteps (i.e. removing jumpers and altering firmware accordingly) change the motor's torque? Will it increase, if I go from 1/16 to 1/4?
The incremental torque per microstep increases, but the usable torque per rotation change does not. So all in all, you don't get more torque, you just get more abrupt and noisier stepper operation. Well explained here: [www.micromo.com]
