Sanguinololu PID set to 0 by Windows 7
May 19, 2015 11:35AM
I couldn't access my board for the longest time.

After months of searching, I have found a few instances of PID's being changed by an update from Windows 7.

Has anyone found a solution to change the PID back? Or a work around? Or anything?

Please don't tell me my board is bricked.
Well, tell me if it is...

Thanks

Dave

Wha??? PID parameters are set in the firmware of the printer/controller board. I'm not terribly fond of Windows, but I have a difficult time imagining ANY scenario (well, OK, maybe in some strange parallel universe), including a Windows update, that could possibly alter the firmware in your printer.

Oh wait, I can see one scenario- were you flashing new firmware when windows decided to reboot for an update? Yikes! What are the odds of that?

Yet another reason to print from SD cards...

PID parameters are set by running PID autotune, so even if they were zeroed, if you run autotune again you should be able to get it working again. See here: [reprap.org]

My PID (Product ID) associated with my USB device was set to 0.

Now my PC cannot communicate with it correctly. I can no longer connect the board to any com port, let alone communicate with it.

You can delete it from the registry then when you plug it in it will add it like a new device. Here is a link to tool that may help you. LINK

Yes this is know as ftdigate, where they made a lot of people very angry by bricking all clone devices with a windows driver update.

see [hackaday.com] get the tool, reset the USB PID (needs linux)
or [www.minipwner.com] also linux

Now that sounds more like it.
Thank you so much for the links!
Now I need to find a friend to help me with the Linux stuff.
I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks again!
