Heatbed resistance

Heatbed resistance

Hello,

I have MK2 pcb heatbed from MakeMendel.

The measured resistance is 2.1 ohms.

Can I add a resistor in parallel to bed connection so that the overall resistance comes to 1.1ohms?

If yes, which type of resistor would be compatible.

You can add a resistor, but I'm not sure why you would want to. A resistor would increase the load on the electronics (bad), and would heat up without benefit to the heated bed temperature or performance... It would look like two heated beds to the electronics.

IMHO, your bed is damaged. You can find another MK2B for under 10 bocks. If you realy want to use that bed, find a 24v 10A PSU and wire it to the bed switched by a $1.5 relay connected to your Ramps output. But I won't be cheaper. Resistors (the heatbed is a resistor) are consumables, someday you'll want to replace it.

Either your heatbed is faulty, or you are measuring from the 24v connections (Mk2b heatbeds have 12 and 24 volt connections)
