Perhaps just some teflon tape would have keep the old setup from leaking?

Been working on my buda knock off. Came for 3mm and want to use 1.75.

Added the 3OD/2ID ptfe tube and that was not enough.... kept jamming. So I got some 3mm brass tube, It now works to my satisfaction using 3mm ptfe and 3mm brass inserts.

If the nozzle doesn't touch the heater block you will get a good seal in most cases. The tapered end of the threaded section should close tight on to the nozzle, but if the nozzle is touching the heater block it can't do that.
My design is very similar to the original that you have. The threaded section has a 118 degree taper and the nozzle has an internal taper of 118 degrees. When screwed together there is a perfect seal and no leakage.

My chinese buda was leaking as well. I took it apart, burned off the excess plastic, and cleaned the threads with a 10mm die. wrapped the crud out of it with teflon tape and the leaking stopped.
