Hi!
My name is Wojtek. I live in Poland.
Smartrap found on thingiverse. I really liked it.
I decided to build another Smartrap.
I designed the printer in Corel and I cut plywood laser.
The printer is almost ready, but needs some small fixes.
This is Smartfrog, my version Smartrap smiling smiley

More photos on my blog www.blackfrog.pl/blog/smartfrog-2/

Best regards Wojtek

Amazing Blackfrog. It looks like a work of art!

Me too Cliff!

Wonderful!

:-) This project just keeps getting better.

I like the Z-bearings. Do you have a part number or order number for those? I think those bearings would simplify Cliff's wooden smartrap (if they are cheap enough easy to purchase somewhere)

Thank you very much for your positive opinions.
In Poland, these bearings cost about 4 Euros per piece
Bearing Z is a linear bearing with flange round LMF08UU

Thank you,

Lets see if we might be able to make a printed LMF08UU?
I really need to find some time to learn FreeCAD. :-)

That's easy enough... give me a bit and I'll have one for you to try.

OK, from dimentions found here -> [www.cyrus-linear.com] I did the bushing with 1/3 twist, 5 lands, a proven design for these bushings. I have not printed this out yet as there was a mishap involving me, online FPS, my Smartrap glass build plate, and a fly landing on my ear. All of which were in to close proximity to each other. eye popping smiley It will be tomorrow until I can get another piece of glass. Anyway, if any of you want to try a print, you can find it on Thingiverse

@ Wojtek - Very nice build. great take on the Smartrap, using laser cut parts. Looks very clean and functional. Congrats!

Ok Mark, Sorry... But that was funny... LOL...

Post the STL for that bearing please... I think that'll work nice for Cliff...

Edit: Doh, missed the link. I've got it now. Thanks

Yea, I kind of laughed about it too after I go over the initial shock and massacred that fly. spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

I would of posted the 2D drawing of it as well, but neither this forum or Thingiverse will display .svg format.

Time is the biggest obstacle, but now i have the SmartRap almost bug-free and i'm printing the first new parts so i'm on my way to the FreeCAD forums soon. :-)

It looks awesome!
going to print it right away.
This is excellent for prototyping without the need to buy the real thing and wait for the postman.

Not just prototyping, I'm thinking about using them with a modified plate like Blackfrog has done. I'll probably do one pair to receive nuts and use them in an upper/lower type of arrangement. Got new glass today and had them cut a second piece to have on hand - more than one fly out there... tongue sticking out smiley I'm printing one out now and I'll post it all over in the Smartrap evolution, improvements... thread. Don't want to be hijacking Blackfrogs thread too much.

The project Smartfrog temporarily stopped. My Arduino is broken: (
After connecting the power supply, there was smoke, voltage stabilizer burned. Replaced the stabilizer but endstops doing short circuit.

Iv'e seen a post about Arduino regulators burning out the other day, i can't find the actual post but it had something to do with the diode on RAMPS

I really need to find some time to learn FreeCAD. :-)

I have used mainly Freecad, OpenSCAD and at work Solidworks but for such a simple part I'd launch straight into my online account on Tinkercad. Give it a try - it is super easy. Once you have mastered tinkercad and need a bit more power - try Autodesk 123D. It is very similar to drive but much more fully featured.

Thanks for the suggestion n.glasson,

I want to learn more about FreeCAD, and tinkercad and Autodesk just don't work on Debian / Mint / Ubuntu. So FreeCAD seems to be a good choice. Though for now FreeCAD seems to be the best option.
If Autodesk becomes available for Debian i sure will give it a try.

In anticipation of the new ARDUINO, which broke down some time ago, I took up the construction of BYQ printer. The printer is controlled by the new electronics KOS, which is a further development of electronics Teensylu and is additionally enriched with many amenities.

For comparison, I present Smartfroga and BYQ.

$85 just for the board looks high. If it was everything including lcd and drivers it would be a good deal.
