In my opinion it is a bit unfortunate that the front linear bearing of the Ormerod Y axis isn't held in place very tightly by the supplied plywood rib, which in my case resulted in the fact that I could easily push down the front of my heated bed by 1mm or so. That's why I decided to design my own clamp and mounted it on my machine:
Now with that clamp mounted the bed is properly secured and I don't need to worry about losing its level anytime soon.
If anyone else wants to give it a try, just grab an M3x16 cap head screw, 2 washers, 1 M3 nut and a printed copy of this part (needs support material!): [
github.com] Just be aware that it's designed for Ormerod 2s only - I don't think it will fit on the old Ormerod 1 (but that's only an assumption, I don't have any more plywood parts on my Ormerod 1 to test with).
