Sorry you had issues, do you want me to send a couple of screws?
The silver tape was an idea adopted on the earlier units, some builders liked the idea of attaching it where the x runner bearing rides, from my own unit I can see this as being a non-issue now as I didn't fit it and there is no sign of wear. No tape will be supplied on future orders.

Yes, they do make a lot of difference, my mk1 has taken a fair beating and still runs well, I doubt the acrylic arm would have survived some of the knocks she's had

Here you go - I did a bit of finishing myself, not really necessarily, just for looks, wet and dry sandpaper P400-500, file for the edges, needle file for the slots
And take care, do not bulge the stainless strip
A great mod that will carry the weight of the extruder just fine...and hold against the force of the bowden cable (the cable will still influence the nozzle hight slightly because of the flexing PLA or ABS x-runner/hotend mount)

I feel it prudent to mention that the edges of that stainless steel tape are razor sharp, extreme caution is advised when fitting it, especially if the lower edge ends up protruding below the arm, it is very sharp!

Some users like to put it where the x runner bearing runs along, I don't supply it anymore as it is a pain to fix and not proven to be needed anyway.
