Hi Kim,
Good work,
I had tried a similar heatsink some time ago, but the lack of a central cooling hole made me change my project.
When I printed long and thin parts placed over the y-axis, the only two holes on the side don't cold the printing area.

Hi Roberto, the cooling ports are quite large, and theres a special feature that I'll disclose after testing. I nearly put a third port on it, but wanted to try a two port first.
Hopefully in a few hours it'll be finished and ready for testing.

Hi Kim
tested? does it work?
I had some print problems with two port...
I have not yet found the "perfect fan" suitable for every situation ..
But different filaments act differently .... I thinkeye rolling smiley

Hi Dario
..and even the same spool can have a bad filament day, I think my white one got a cold, should have made a fine 5 hours print, but it's snot..

I've had all sorts of crazy mishaps and silly problems printing the new Fan Duct.
I missed an over hang, so ended up with a pile of Hoola Hoops over a cracking print.... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.... My fault for being in a rush.
The socket I was plugged in to was on a timer...... Hmmmmm I found the timer hidden behind the settee..... More growling...
Then Y belt slipped.... More Hoola Hoops... I'm going to cover them in tomato sauce and force feed them to my young lady for using a timer
on her Tortoise socket.... eye rolling smiley
Then halfway throu a print the X-axis decisided to lock up for no good reason???? But only when the power is on.... very strange.confused smiley.. I must look in the motor sometime.
But this time it looks great...smiling bouncing smiley

Hi Dario, my Partner has 4 tortoises..... She has heating lamps for them connected to a timer....
I took the power for the printer from the same supply line, not knowing that it was on a timer.
So halfway throu a long print.... the power to the printer and heater lamp went off.....
sad smiley

Hoola Hoops is Pasta in a tomato sauce..... it's sold in tins..... Mainly for children to eat......

Ok the Fan Duct is nearly finished printing..... So far so good.... So I have designed an add on for it....
It is a mounting for LED strip lights.....

Here the LED strip will be at 45' and the mounting will protect the electrical connections.

Big Blue has arrived...
Ready for testing now before it's released.
Features:-
1) Zero BackWash
2) Quieter than the Open Vertical Designs
3) Two Adjustable Cooling Ports with an Exaust Pipe if you want to remove cooling all together, or you can adjust the air flow to the Cooling port from a gentle waft of air, to full on
air flow.
4) Built in Electronics box to house the Cooling Fan controller to be released shortly.
5) Add on LED Light Bar Safety mounting will also be available.

So now you CAN control the amount of Cooling, by adjusting how much air you allow to escape through the Exhaust.
I expect to release the STL file for Big Blue (Mk3 Fan-Duct) Tomorrow 6th April... (UK).

@KimBrown, now that looks impressive! cool smiley Thanks.

I look forward to hearing about the performance as I'm hopefully going to do my BIG upgrade (aluminium bed, Daves IR sensor and other parts) in a couple of weeks, once 'real' work slows down!
But then there is the garden and decorating.........

Big Blue's LED Light Beam is now available on ThingiVerse.
This can be used with either the Mk1 Fan-Duct or Big Blue (Mk3 Fan-Duct), or any where you want to put it...
The small protection arches (either end) are to cover up the LED exposed connections, to reduce the risk of shorting by the Beam hitting a metal clip or bolt for example.
The beam pictured was printed using Big Blue, for Big Blue, and shows how it can perform on small delicate items. The Beam is simply glued in to place using 5 min Apoxy glue.

Tomorrow I will be producing a set of Nozzles for the two cooling ports, together with a set of Choke plates for the exhaust to allow people to set the air flow rate to suit their needs.

All air going through Big Blue passes over the whole of the Heat Sink before going out either up the Exhaust, or down to the Cooling Ports (which ever is your wish), so the Heat Sink is always fully serviced with cold air, and the warmed air is then used to cool the hot filament after extrusion, or blown upwards away from the print..

A circuit for a fan controller will be released shortly, that will fit in to the electronics box onboard of Big Blue to automaticaly start and stop the fan.

hihihi I said it was going to be better.... Well it's here...

Kim..hot smiley
