Hello wiki sherrifs and deputies,

as probably many of you have seen, Pennsylvania State University uses our wiki for course related blogging. As they do this on their individual user pages, I consider this to be perfectly fine.

As of this semester, two things have developed:

1 - A number of individuals help on spam detection by changing the content of a spamming user's page to simply "spam". This is very welcome and helps a lot, especially as the external links - which is the important part for the spammers - are immediately gone. Actual page deletion happens later.

2 - The PSU people sometimes see their blogs being detected as spam and - accordingly - deleted. Understandably, such false positives aren't exactly welcome. The last two semesters, they hadn't such issues.

Now, my wish to the spam fighters is: please take a bit more care on what you detect as spam. Not every page with external links is spam, especially not pages with links to Thingiverse.

Additionally we look into a better distinction of blog vs. spam. Maybe a [[Category:...something...]] on the top of each page will be introduced soon, so please watch out for this. You see the category link on top only when editing the page.

Thanks for reading, thanks for helping,
Traumflug
