Given the minimum purchase requirements for some reprap and repstrap materials, I would like to explore the idea of swapping among reprappers, as an alternative to buying/selling for cash. To me, this seems more in the cooperative spirit, whatever economists say about barter....
It might also make it a bit easier for people to experiment with reprap/repStrap design, even if they don't own all the means of production.
One thing that would facilitate this might be to combine the Wanted and for Sale forums (neither of which is that busy) and add "Swap" to the forum title/description. If users followed the convention of putting "for sale" "wanted" or "for Swap" in thread titles, then people could determine from titles which to read.
I'm planning to buy some items like this (e.g. teflon, high-temperature insulating materials, small diam drill bits.) Ideally, I'd like to put the excess in the hands of other reprappers, in exchange for reprap-useful items they may have.
Worth doing?
