Spare Parts

I am in the middle of constructing my Mendel90 and some of my first prints will be spare parts for the printer.

What parts are prone to break? (ie what should I print first?) And what fill, layer height etc. should be used on the printed parts?

Extruder gears wear out but if you keep them greased they last a long time. The Wade's block and its idler tend to develop stress fractures over a long time in my boxed machines, where the temperature is high.

The print settings I use are in the Reprap wiki Mendel90 page I think.

I have just finished building my kit from Chris, So far very pleased with the prints i have done.
i am getting some stringy layers on a walled hollow 25mm box but i think I’m printing the PLA to hot.

Seeing this post reminded me i should print some spares before i actually need them smiling smiley

What kind of grease do you recommend?

Lithium Grease, as per page 67 of the design manual. You can buy it from most hobby shops or ebay.
