Mendel90 for T-Slot
August 18, 2012 07:53AM
A few weeks ago I decided to change my old repstrap into a Mendel90 like machine. The problem was that my repstrap is built of T-Slot profiles. So I decided to adapt the Mendel90 parts to my T-Slot frame. Construction isn't completed yet, so have mercy on the mess my little hack looks like. smiling smiley

When ready it should look like this:

As I was asked to publish my hack you find it attached.

Why is it on stilts?

It is because my repstrap has own wheels so you can push it around. I keep the ABS-filament and the PSUs below the trays.

This time I will add a spindle on top for PLA, so I can switch between PLA and ABS.

The lower parts are covered by acrylic glas, so that my little daughter can't reach them. winking smiley

That looks pretty good. I like the extrusion frame because you can reuse it to make a new machine.

Actually I already reused it. winking smiley

The frame comes from my old repstrap. Now it turns into a "Mendel90T".

Hello theodleif ,

I found your thread and I appreciate your idea a lot.

I would like to do the same thing : use t-slots extruded aluminium for the mendel 90 I plan to buid.

Would it be possible to get the dimensions of the t-slot uou used ?

Can you please tell me if I can use the stl's you attached ? Or did you change some of them ?

Have you got good results with your printer , or any advice to give me ?

Best regards,

JC

Hello Weedz

In your case you used originals stl's from Mendel90
I am going to read the url you linked in details
Did you had any problem ?
Any adjustments or changes to be done to use t-slots ?

Best regards,
JC

I am tempted to try a Mendel90T as well. Judging from the pic, the t-slot is slightly wider than a Nema17, which would make it 45x45mm? Possibly 40x40mm, hard to tell.

I haven't looked to see what bolt size Mendle90 uses on the mounts, maybe could use a 30x30 frame instead.

I feel an OpenSCAD script coming on...

ETA: looks like the Dutch build mentioned above uses 30x30mm.

Here is a start perhaps?

I downloaded theodlief changes, but they are somewhat incomplete/out of date wrt to the photos. I have fixed them up a lot and made them configurable, and partly integrated them with latest Mendel90 source from the repo.

This is for 30x30 extrusion with M5 bolts:

The Y motor bracket needs a little work, and there may be some issues with Y endstop.

Do you have an updated file with scad drawings?
It seems a lot of the files in this one is corrupt... I get oddly shapes, when trying to render them in OpenScad.
