I am new to all this reprap stuff.

I just purchased a set of SAE plastic reprap parts, stepper motors and a hot bed. The metal rods have not arrived yet.

Would it make sense to use the new"Quick change Makergear extruder" by dkennell, featured in "THINGIVERSE." It seems impossible to open his .stl files without first purchasing "Autodesk Inventor"

Does anyone have any suggestions about what collection software programs and versions that I should get in order to finish my 3d printer build?
