KISSlicer Tantillus .ini files placement on Mac OS X
November 27, 2014 10:59PM
Sorry to post this on the Tantillus forum but the KISSlicer hasn't responded in months and it is for my Tantillus printer.
Can someone please tell me where the .ini files go on MacOS X?
The instructions say that the should be put int the folder with the executable.
However anyone who has used a Mac knows that the executable is encapsulated in a Bundle.
So do the files reside in the KISSlicer bundle or perhaps in users /Library/Appliation Support or just where?

TIA

Just in case anyone else wants to know how to get Yosemite to work with KISSlicer, here you go:
1) Download the config files as directed.
2) Download KISSlicer from the WEB site
3) DO NOT RUN KISSlicer
4) place the config files in /Applications --- This is NOT the "/Users/<user_home_dir>/Applications" folder but the Applications folder at the root directory of the Volume.
5) Run KISSlicer check to see if you have a "Tantillus" printer in the pull-down settings panel.

If you have already run KISSlicer before you moved the config files you are impeded but NOT defeated.
It appears that KISSlicer does NOT look for config files if it is using the default configs.
You must "fool" KISSlicer into believing it has written a new config file so that it will re-read the config files again.
Follow these steps:
Run KISSlicer

1) Click on the "Printer" tab in the settings pop-down.
2) Find the "Copy Printer" button on the lower right-hand side of the panel.
3) Click the "Copy Printer" button one time.
4) You will get a pop-up dialog asking you: "What you would like the new Printer Profile to be named?
5) Just click on the "OK" button.
6) Quit KISSlicer. That is correct, just stop the program at this point.
7) Find your config files from the Tantillus WEB site that you previously downloaded and copy all 4 files to the pasteboard.
8) Hold down the shift and command keys and press the "G" key all at the same time. Then release them. Or if "Finder" is on the Menu bar at the top of the screen click on the "Go">>"Go to folder..." menu item. Either one will bring a pop-up dialog box prompting you for a folder path.
9) Type in the line below:
/Applications
or copy and paste from the line above and click on the 'Go" button on the dialog.
10) Click on any _materials.ini, _printers.ini, _styles.ini and/or _supports.ini files you find already in the /Applications folder. Put them in the Trashcan an empty the trash.
11) Go back to the /Applications folder and paste your 4 config files on your pasteboard into the /Applications folder.
12) Close all your windows and open KISSlicer again. You will now have the correct config files in the settings panels.

I'm not interested in offending anyone nor in useless debating; for those who care, this is NOT where these files belong on OS X.
Nor is it where they are expected to be in a properly laid out application on a *nix machine.
Ah well, this will work for your Tantillus printer if you are using a Mac with OS X.
So have fun slicing and printing!
