Marlin Firmware

When downloading the Marlin Firmware for Tantillus from GitHub, is there a trick to downloading it?

The reason I ask is that it seems that there will be tens of separate downloads,and they will be somewhat of a pain to organize due to the submenus.

Is there a nice clean way of doing this, rather than downloading each file individually?

There is a "zip" button up top. That will get the whole thing in a zip file. I had the same problem

OK - starting to feel like a twit a bit now.

From the instructions:
"Firmware

Download and install the Arduino IDE version 0023.
DO NOT use Arduino 1.0 or newer.
Select your board type in Arduino menu under "Tools, Board".
Arduino Mega 2560
Connect the board to the computer with a USB cable.
Select the port in the Arduino menu under "Tools, Serial Port".
Download the preconfigured copy of Marlin firmware for Tantillus.
Open the Arduino IDE and open the Marlin firmware folder.
Click the upload button located near the top.

All is good until I try to Select the port in the Arduino menu under "Tools, Serial Port". - as Serial Port is greyed out in the menu.

And, when it comes to the upload - is there a specific file to be opened in the from the file>open in the arduino interface?

Apparently you have to open Marlin.pde hit compile and then upload

That's as far as I got.

I'm now thinking that I have to do that for each of the tabs that has opened when I opened Marlin.pde ...but I'm not sure.

The tabs are just files in the project as long as you hit compile and upload and it didn't throw an error your fine.

Nope. Marlin.pde includes all the other files automatically. Just once and done.

It will be greyed out if there is no serial port on your computer, i.e. the Arduino is either not plugged in or not recognized. Try following the instructions here for the Uno (assuming you are on Windows).

I figured out that my 2560 drivers weren't properly installed. I installed, and then uploaded the firmware.

Now my screen reads 025/000, Tantillus 000%

I'm thinking this is a good sign

So, does your dial do anything? If I push it in and turn it to the right I get watch, prepare, preheat

And yes, the dial is giving me a whole pile of options, like you describe, and on and on..

Hmm... I only get the 3 options and can't figure out how to select them or what to do with them. What options do you get?

well, the one that I'm running right now is Cooldown - which seems to be a controlled temperature drop.

Others I saw were under Prepare: load PLA, preheat PLA, Home, Load Filament, Unload filament, Move Axis,Disable Stepper, Backlight: 000, Lighting: 000, Set Origin, Autostart

Wow. Something is really wrong with mine. I don't see those other ones.

Hmm, I wish I could be of help - but I really don't have much knowledge of this stuff. I hope it gets solved quickly for you.

@lisa you push the knob and it acts as a button. So turn and once you are at an option press the knob and you will be in a new sub menu etc etc. If it still does not work let me know.

I will add all of this to the instructions when I get home.
