Can Slic3r read obj files with bezier or other curved surfaces? If so, which version of the obj format does it support?

Slic3r uses STL files as input, which cannot have curved surfaces (curves are simulated with many short straight sections). The 3D printer controller will always have to do a similar transformation even if it supports circles in the G-code (not many printers do), so you won't gain anything anyway.

I know it can read .obj files (Wavefront .obj) already - just wondering at what level of support. I'm writing an app which deals in bezier surfaces mainly, so would like to know if Slic3r can accept them directly or if I have to flatten them.

I knocked up a bezier surface in a .obj file, and Slic3r (1.6.1) didn't understand it.
Is anyone in the know on this forum with Slic3r development? Or are .obj files dead in the water?

You have to flatten them out. Slic3r does not understand Bezier surfaces.
