Too much material in narrow walls

Too much material in narrow walls

Hi,

I'm trying to print one of these Smart Controller cases:

After tuning my configuration my prints are coming out pretty good now. Only issue I seem to have is that too much material is deposited in the narrow walls. This can be seen in the attached pictures. Eventually this builds up, becomes lumpy and the hot end starts crashing into it. At this point I have to abandon the print.

Will disabling 'Gap Fill' eliminate this issue? Thought I'd ask before reattempting, as it takes some time to get to the problem area and wastes a lot of filament.

Many thanks,

David.

Yes

Version 1.2.7 and earlier did not have this issue.

This is a known issue in 1.2.9

There are two options suggested in that thread:
- Setting gap fill speed to 0 to disable gap fill, or
- Set all speeds manually (do not use auto-speed).

Please let us know if one of these work for you.

Tried v1.2.7 and it has solved the issue. This was confirmed beforehand in gcode viewer. v1.2.9 tries to add a line of infill between and parallel to the two perimeters, whereas v1.2.7 does not. These walls are weaker, but fine for what I need. I guess the only real solution would be to redesign the object (which I can't do) or use a narrower nozzle.

Thanks.
