Slic3r 1.2.9 crashes when loading one specific STL
July 04, 2015 03:42PM
Let me start by saying how much I appreciate the new graphical visualization options in version 1.2.9 . It's successfully handled all but one STL that I've thrown at it since loading it up about a week ago. I've attached the single STL that I created by augmenting an STL from a foreign source with extra geometry using OpenSCAD. The problem is that as soon as this STL is added via the Slic3r UI the "Slic3r.exe has stopped working" dialog appears and the package has to be restarted. I have, however, been able to successfully slice the same ST using Slic3r 1.1.7 . I'm running under 64 bit Windows 7 Professional with 16GB RAM. Does anyone have any suggestions before I submit this as a formal bug?

I think I've solved my own problem using the netfab basic package. Looks like my STL had some defects that needed fixing. It shouldn't really have been able to crash Slic3r but there's a reasonable way to correct the problem.
