1.2.9 and OctoPrint

I just downloaded the new 1.2.9 and cannot get it to communicate with my octoprint. I have entered the IP address, but it keeps timing out. I can open a web browser to the same address and it works fine. I added the API access key, but no luck.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think you need a development version of octoprint, since the stable version has an incompatible API.

Also, I have myself made the mistake of just copying the url from the browser- which won't work, but you have to make sure that the IP-adress is "clean", i.e. no http-prefix or trailing slash.

Hope this helps smiling smiley

Edit: I didn't notice that new stable octoprint was actually released yesterday, so it should work if you use 1.2.0

I am using Version: 1.2.0-dev-909-g13cda74 (devel branch) and a "clean" IP address (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx format).

Perhaps it's a port issue. "Vanilla" octoprint runs on port 5000, but if you run octopi you'll get a reverse proxy/webserver that listens on port 80. Not sure what port Slic3r expects it to be at, but this could be a problem depending on your setup.

Also, perhaps obvious, but i assume that you also have enabled the API in the settings smiling smiley

API is enabled. With no port specified, the error message reports the timeout on :80. I tried specifying port 5000 with yhe same results. Timeout on port 5000 so the port was used in the error message at least.

Does Bonjour, or whatever that is called, need to be working, even if using an IP address?

No need for any extra services, but a timeout issue seems to indicate some kind of connection issue, a firewall perhaps on the machine that Slic3r runs on?

I found when running it standalone, I get the timeout. However, when I was running through repetier, it was able to connect.
