Will not slice Mendel90 Part

I am printing the latest parts update my Mendel90. As you can see in the attached render, there is a nut trap on the underside of the top that holds the threaded rod nut. It is covered by a membrane one layer thick on top and bottom of the trap.

Apparently in Skeinforge it slices properly, In Slic3r it fills the nut trap in. I am not going back to try to figure out how to slice this in Skeinforge these days. Any way to get this to slice properly? Here is the thread on the issue: [forums.reprap.org]

I see the issue on github .. but it appears to be closed. Considering that I have the latest version of OpenSCAD .. should it behave correctly??

Not that I've noticed.

I've been meaning to punch a tiny hole through the single layer membrane to see if it helps (even if it results in a mess on the underside as a result of the 'hole' falling away) or possibly adapt the hanging holes method as described on Chris' blog here but have currently filed it under my long list of other yak-shaving activities...
