Warping perimeters
July 25, 2014 10:45AM
Hi. I have a problem on my printing:

when printing objects that have angles usually they start to raise during printing and ruining my objects. Otherwise I dont have any problems on my printing. This problem is complitely random and happens irregularry, sometimes success, sometimes not. When I have fewer than 3 perimeter lifting is less common but still happens. I dont want to print only 1 perimeter items because they are not very durable.

On files there are pictures of my printing settings and pictures of a failed object.

Thank you for help.

Hi Calad,

I wonder if you already tried using Kapton tape to print PLA.
I just print on it, 70º C 1st layer, 55º C all others. Before every printing clean 2 times the tape with a solvent.
Also, use skirt as a termic shield, 1 perimeter, 5mm or so distant from the part, full part height.
It also helps if you insulate thermicaly the bottom and all around the bed, to try to get a uniform temperature across the bed itself.

This will make the difference.

Regards.

Jose

1. Use cooling during printing. If your printer doesn't have a fan for cooling during printing, install at least one. Especially when printing with PLA this is mandatory for good overhangs.
2. Lower extruder temperature after the first layer. This will allow the plastic to cool faster.
3. Decrease the printing speed. Impact is as above.
4. Increase layer height. Thicker layers behave better with overhangs.
The keywords with overhangs are "fast cooling".
