how do you set the values in % for print speed, it seems like my tops of the prints are always on the thin side.?

You need to enter the % sign after the number otherwise it is a speed in mm/s (except the bug in the first layer speed setting where mm/s is output as mm/m (fixed a few hours ago in the git version))
