Z-Probe Off Set Problems
December 21, 2016 12:20PM
I have been fighting my z-prob for a week or so now. I am using the sensor that came with my kit which is this one. My procedure to set the off set is as follows:

G28 - Home All Axis
M851 Z0
G28 - Home All Axis
M851 Z-0.XX
Paper test
Find the value then use M500 to save in EEPROM
M501 to check if it saved.
Change Slicer ZOffSet to match the variable.

The printer will do the auto leveling but it is always to low. I have tried setting the Slicer ZOffSet to zero that didn't change it. I have tried to change the off set with M851 to 0 and it prints way to high. Anything lower then the value it smashes the bed. I have another sensor found here. I dont know if it's the senor or if it's something I am missing. All help is appreciated.

Did you try moving the sensor up? It could be that he is too close to the build plate

If you are setting the Z offset with M851 and then storing the setting to eeprom with M500, you should not be changing the Z offset in the slicer, leave that set to 0.
