jerk and heavy beds

Hi folks,
just seeking clarification about jerk settings. My understanding is that jerk is the
speed below which a stepper/driver thinks it change velocity instantly.

Now, if you have a heavy bed, like mine, and high jerk for the Y axis you are more likely
to have belt slippages as the momentum of the bed will overcome the instant
velocity change the driver thinks it can do?

So with a heavy bed set the Y jerk low?

In essence you are correct, with powerful stepper and tight belt it won't skip but it might vibrate and that vibration will be registered in the print. So yes for heavy beds its better low jerk and also low speeds.
