Getting old Makerbot Cupcake CNC basic with replicatorG printing

Hi folks,

I am not realy sure, which board is the right one ... maybe please move this thread.

I got an old 3D printer from a friend of mine.
This might be my entry to the 3D printing world and maybe a newer one will follow.

But first I want to start my expiriences with this printer.

Here is my configuration:

Makerbot Cupcake CNC basic
Windows 7 64
ReplicatorG 0040

The connection is established and I can move all axis manualy.
I am able to generate a gcode
If I want to transfer it to the printer it stucks with the message: "Estamating time to completion ..." and nothing happens.

Can anybody help me with this?

Thank you very much
Cappy

... okay ... I am sorry.
I found some information with google help.

I changed Gcode generator type to "Skeinforge 35".
No the printer begins to print ... BUT

The material comes out VERY VERY VERY slow.
After I confirmed the nozzle cleaning the table moves but no material comes out of the nozzle.

Has anybody an idea?

Cappy

Did you calibrate your extruder motor? You should find out some stuff about your firmware and how to work with it. You should be able to change some values in there that will give your E-motor more steps per unit (this is what you are looking for, steps per unit on the E-motor). You should also be able (with pronterface at least) to manually extrude 5 mm of fillament. This way you can see how far off your settings are off from reality.
Good luck!

Ah the memories! A Cupcake was the first actual 3D printer I ever saw at a time when I was deciding to buy a kit or design/build my own. After I saw the Cupcake I thought "I can definitely do better than this POS!". The rest is history.
