changing nozzle size to fix extruder blocking/jamming

Hi folks,
just started printing with new roll of Verbatim PLA filament and am currently
doing the usual calibration etc. But this roll is being particularly uncooperative.
Currently I'm printing at 15mm/s @225c and it seems to be kinda working.

I was wondering what experience others have had with just chucking in the towel and
switching to a larger diameter nozzle to fix blocking issues?

I'm using a 0.3 and eyeing off putting in a 0.4mm.

Many thanks,
Me

It all depends on the kind of part you are printing, I personally don't have any problems with nozzles 0.3 and up, it's problematic the 0.2 and I crossed out ever using 0.1 (nightmare). For standard production parts I use 0.4, for some specific production parts and "show pieces I use 0.3 and the 0.2 only for small artistic pieces.

Now said that, I think you are way up in the temperature for PLA which will increase clogging issues.

Agreed, 180c works for me. Also, 15mm/sec may be to slow allowing heat creep. Bump it up to 50 and see what happens.
