Scale issue MAYA to Repetier

Has anyone had an issue with the scale going form a 3d model as a stl in maya to repetier.

I've set the units to inches in Maya and Repetier also has them set to import at inches and everything comes in really big like 10 times larger

... could be, the decimals are defined different - I'm constructing in Lightwave with micrometers, while other CAD's measures in 1/100 millimeter, what's too common in the CNC-milling 'world' ...
