Printing Issue "5mm Calibration Cube Steps"
March 03, 2015 09:31AM
Dear all,

I am having a strange issue when printing this part form thingiverse: [www.thingiverse.com].

The last cube on top is more a cylinder than a cube - see pictures attached. There are also some strange "disturbancies" at the layers - they are somehow interrupted.

Does anybody know where this comes from and what can I do about it?

best regards,
KORYBA

Either try a lower temperature, slow the print down or have some active cooling if you haven't already. As for the strange disturbances the pictures are hard to see what the problem is. Maybe you can use a flashlight to highlight the problem? With a focused beam any kind of faults can be much better seen and photographed.

You can use slic3r cooling option. It also allows you to slow down the print if the layer time drops below a certain point.

+1 for the cooling and slowing down. If you already have cooling add more. It appears you are using PLA. PLA needs lots of cooling especially on these small area layers. If you watch as the printer lies down the layers on the top cube you can probably see the hotend ever so slightly dragging the layer underneath around as it prints. This is a sign you should increase your layer minimum time limit or increase your cooling.

+1 turn on cooling, it slows down the speed when a layer takes a short amount of time. That gives it time to cool down (not fan).
