Extruder problem?

Extruder problem?
February 06, 2015 05:22PM
I'm new to 3D printing, I've printed a few bits and bobs with my Mendel90. Followed nophead's instructions for bed levelling and calibration. My first few prints came out quite well, but tonight I've been trying to print the RPI bracket and it's failed twice. The first attempt, sliced with Skeinforge using nophead's PLA0.3 profile, came out very "stringy" with the layers not really such together. I tried slicing it again with the PLA0.2 profile and it started printing like this. The only other change is that I'm printing through OctoPrint.

Any ideas? I can supply more info/pics if needed.

Seems like a temperature issue. Could also be the stepper motor not extruding enough pla. PLA has a lot of friction and has to be tuned to the right temp and extrusion speeds/steps in order to work right.

Thanks Durke. I played around a bit, recalibrated my bed (amazed how far it had moved, and not sure why) and experimented with temperatures. Got fairly reliable printing now.
